Tom Kacich has the scoop on prospective appointments to the C-U MTD board. It looks like County Board Chair Barb Wysocki - who still faces a very tough general election to retain her seat on the board - has an important, and very visible, recommendation to make in the next few days/weeks.
County board Chair Barbara Wysocki, who will make her recommendation to the board's policy committee next month, said Tuesday that she doesn't expect any more applicants. Wysocki said she had just completed interviewing the applicants and did not know whom she would recommend to the committee.
What do you think ”“ is it time for a change on the C-U MTD board? What do you know of the prospective candidates (Democrat - Ronald J. Peters; Republican - Jerry Zachary)?

any new face would be a step in the right direction
RSW has it!!!! Anybody new with maybe the exception of another "neighbor" appointment, relative of Friedman or Volk, and not an MTD driver.
I believe that both live south of Windsor Road, which should give a broader prospective.
If Barb wants to help her re-election, she will not recommend Friedman for another appointment. He has proven to thousands of voters in the public foreums that he and the MTD Board under his leadership care nothing for citizen input as to how the MTD should operate.
Jerry Zachary would be an excellent MTD board member, but how can he be on the board when he lives in Rantoul (outside the MTD district)?
oops, I guess he just moved to CMI. My bad.
he has moved to Champaign...
One would think, of the 125,000 people who are paying taxes for the MTD to operate on over a $24,000,000.00 annual budget, more that FOUR (4) people would be commenting on WHO will be leading the MTD BOARD.
A new face with fresh or simply contrarian views is clearly needed.

Clearly most of those hollaring and whining about MTD only want to complain and are not willing to actually step up to the plate, roll up their sleeves and go to work. I am not surprised.
It is real work to serve on these boards/commissions and the complainers always think the answers/solutions are simple and they are not. It is easier, and apparently more fun, to criticize than work to improve things.
