Corruption in SOS Office

This, from the Dan Rutherford campaign today:

A week ago Greg Hinz of Crain's Chicago Business exposed the number of family members on the payroll, as well as the number of no bid contracts being given out. In a follow up article by Mr. Hinz, we find out that the problem permeates even deeper. There are an even larger number of family members on the payroll than originally thought and they are all tied to Mr. White and nine of his senior executives.

Recently three ghost-pay rollers have pled guilty in a scam that went on for up to six years under Jesse White's watch. Some of the men worked a few of the hours that they claimed and another did not work at all. In a few days former Director Cecil Turner will be going on trial for his role in this scam. Mr. Turner was hired by Jesse White even though White knew that Turner had been convicted up stealing veterans' benefit checks out of the US mail.

Despite all of the talk about a new way of doing business, nothing has changed. It is time for true change in the way that business is conducted in Illinois.

Jesse White is plenty popular, seems to be a very likeable guy, and has great name recognition, but maybe the SOS office is not the place for him.

As far as we know todate, he is not stuffing shoe boxes with checks. Beyond that, I do not see much if any improvement in the SOS operation. The voter registration drive caused much duplication of records and lots of effort to straighten out. The organ donor program has proven to be less than effective since any family member could stop that process. However, it is currently being overhauled.
On a personal level, my last experience occurred getting my driver license renewed, just prior to my scheduled cataract removal surgery. While taking the eye exam, I said I could not make out two of the signs. Received my new license without correctional lenses being required. Based on that test I should have declined the surgery but proceed, just for the peace of mind which comes from being able to see things clearly.
Should I vote for Jesse White based upon his performance as SOS?

"Should I vote for Jesse White based upon his performance as SOS?"

Depends on your opinion of what constitutes "good customer service" :-)

"Good Service"

Does one of my renewal stickers ending up in East St. Louis, inside the same envelope with someone else's renewal sticker count as good service? (Thankfully, that person put it in an envelope and mailed it to me, with an explanation as to how she ended up with it...)

When I contacted the SOS's office in regards to the above, and not getting any sort of a response from them... does that count as good service?

Does having to wait several weeks for a $65 piece of paper (a duplicate title) count as good service? Then, having to wait several more weeks after it was discovered that the first duplicate title had bad information (wrong VIN number) on it, does that count as good service? (All the time this was going on, I had to put the sale of the car on hold...)

Does the extreme dread that occurs when having to visit any SOS office for any reason count as good service?

Jesse... your operations and your offices are a joke. Perfect examples of government at their absolute worst.

Go Dan go.

The title for one of my motorcycles states that it is a 7500cc moped. This was after the third time sending it back for a correction.

"a 7500cc moped."

I would love to see such a vehicle :-)

Thats my kinda of moped.

During my last visit to the driver's services bureau, I had to renew my plate without the paperwork. I asked them if they could look up the information on the computer using my name. The clerk told me to go out and get my license plate number and come back--which I did--starting at the end of the line again (I needed the exercise). If their computer systems only pull up information by plate number and not by name, then they have a problem.

You can't see the moped it goes to fast.

Jesse White is perhaps the only politician in history who wins re-election via tumblers.
