Roe v. Wade at 34

NRO online has dedicated some space to remembering this anniversary.

One interesting piece is by Deroy Murdock, about Rudy's abortion record.  Murdock's opinion:

Giuliani essentially verbalized his pro-choice beliefs while avoiding policies that would have impeded abortion’s generally downward trajectory.

Hmmmm.......

Feel free to use this thread to discuss the Roe v. Wade battle, and/or Rudy and his potential for getting votes from pro-lifers.

I believe that Rudy missed a great opportunity in the last six years to enhance his conservative credentials.  He should have been out front on the judicial nominees more.  If I was Rudy, I would be hammering home to conservatives that it's a state's rights issue and that it should not be in the federal courts.  That would mollify enough to perhaps push him over the top.

I, by the way, can't be mollified.  Please oh please find me a good conservative that can get elected.

I can't listen to radio news or read the paper without the constant "up to the minute" body count in Iraq. Fine, I guess that's what people want to hear.

But on the ONE DAY we mark the Roe v Wade decision, where hundreds of thousands are marching in DC to commemorate the innocent killing of 47 million babies, I've heard virtually nothing all day. Even this post comes at 3:00 pm -- but thanks for posting nonetheless.

Guess it's pretty clear what this country feels is important.

I have been checking this afternoon for some coverage on a few news webs sites - Fox finally got something in here.  Nothing at MSN, nothing at Yahoo News.

(I did this post at noon, but it didn't get the first comment until 3)

It was on CNN all day; I even heard GWB "phone in" his message.  So, let's not get dramatic here -- the MSM did cover the march. This doesn't play into your outcry against the "liberal media", so you might want to ignore this fact.

Really how long did CNN cover the huge march in Washington? How many other stations covered it? The MSM should mean more then one station and more then a token story. The local stations covered it at least.

Dig a little:

Who said anything about "Liberal media??" My point was that the Roe v Wade issue, and the right to life issue, is a huge issue. For some it's THE issue. Just based on the thousands who showed up in DC, it's a story.

Compared to, say, the Oscar nominations this morning: go to any news site, any media outlet and it's all over the place.

My comments are a slant to the culture - not the media.

I don't have access to TV during the day - just web news.  Didn't see much.

I did see channel 3 last night cover the candlelight vigil outside our local abortion clinic - that was good.

Here is the CNN web story - posted at 4:06 eastern - and no picture of the crowd or march itself.

Usually, the 34th anniverary of anything doesn't mean much, why should Roe v Wade be any different?

but how many people marched on D.C. yesterday in hopes of changing a ruling that is 34 years old?  How many people consider abortion the single issue to determine who gets their vote - on both sides?

If the media was conservative, a mouthpiece for the GOP and/or the religious right, how would coverage have been different?

Yeah all those people that give money on both sides of the issue don't really matter.  Committed people that give their time to candidates based on what they believe isn't helpful either. All those organizations that inform people about their side of the abortion issue they don't mean much. I wonder how many close elections have been decided by the base of their parties pro-life or pro-choice groups coming out to get their candidates elected. What a joke.

I watched ABC network news and local news 15 last night and both gave ample coverage to the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. I don't get what some on here are upset about.

If it was a right wing MSM...

January 22, 1939. The uranium atom was split for the first time, leading to Atom Bombs. We used 'em to whip the Japs, now let's use 'em to whip the Islamists!

Gee thanks for our 15 minutes of fame. It should be more then enough time to balance out all those positive news stories that MSM puts out all year long for the Pro-Choice groups. It's funny to see stories about Planned Parenthood in the paper that note statistics from the non-partisan Alan Guttmacker Institute supporting their latest study on woman and abortion. I guess the fact that the Guttmacker Institute was spun off of Planned Parenthood really isn't that important. All those TV Shows that support the Pro-Choice message they really won't need any balance either. I am not for forcing our Media to provide balance content but you really don’t think we believe yesterday’s coverage was Ample. Like the rest on the other side I don't think you can tell can't tell. What a joke.

So a good conservative these days has to be PRO WAR but ANTI ABORTION with the difference like being a little bit pregnant.  I think that I will remain a  conservative who has not been "born again" in order to  maintain my distaste for all human killing.

run4cvr lib, you sound a lot like Mel Gibson, only instead of jews, it's the liberal media, the liberal Hollywood TV shows, and the liberal ... I'm sorry, I forgot. Which other liberals are there?

Anon, I know you would rather hide in the corner and call people names because you're not man enough to stand up for yourselve or able to prove what you write. You must really hate being a liberal because you can't stand seeing the word printed. What you don't think there are liberals in the world? Did I write something that was not true? Maybe you just hate conservatives why was you're daddy mean to you when you were little? What a Joke.

Old conservative—Try innocent life and who brought up the war?

Why can’t you people just address the comments I write instead of attacking me personally?

I guess that's free speech?

"why was you're daddy mean to you when you were little? What a Joke."

That is  a very low comment, run. So here's one for you.

At least my daddy stayed home and raised us,
he wasn't a drunk that abandoned a wife and 8 kids, like yours did.

OK - this thread is closed.  This is about as vicious as I've ever seen anything get on IP, and that's saying something.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.
