I just saw Sen. Frerichs on my new HD TV, he was talking about the power rate debate in Springfield, although I could not see Frerichs handler, Emil Jones I could make out the strings Jones pulls to make his mouth move!!! "It's amazing It's the smoke and the mirrors" Hey Mikey how are you and Naomi doin on that property tax relief????? I can't wait to see Blagovich crying on the HD when the Feds come to get Him!!! " Bad Boys Bad Boys whatcha gonna do when they come for you " Their comming .......soon!!!!

Naomi seems pretty decent. This guy I knew was in the hospital for a month (critical condition at first), and Naomi came by more than once to visit. In fact, I heard she was there on Christmas Day. Chicagovich I don't like at all.
My wife and some friends went to see Frerichs in Springfield on Monday to talk about SB0385. She said the Senator was very cordial and genuinely interested in their opinion. He gave them something like 30 minutes of his time, and asked a very interesting question:
So ... if I opposed this bill, what would my argument be?
Which was answered for him (he is not on the committee that was voting). I don't know, call me a partisan, but isn't this what we expect from our Senators? I have no idea if Emil Jones is behind this bill or not, and I don't really care. I do know that Judy Myers was in office she would not vote for SB385. So, for us, having Frerichs in Springfield is a big plus.
Oh, and the bill has made it out of committee for the first time! There is a real chance for licensed midwives in this state. Again, thank goodness for the Democrats!
I'm curious, Gregg. Was there any specific point to this thread?
I am not positive of course, but I think Gregg is trying to imply that "Little Elvis", needs to brush up on his own version of Jail House Rock.
Kevin sees no point to this post so I will put forth some:
It is a disgusting that our representatives in Springfield deal in words, not deeds, line their pockets with tax dollars but cannot seem to manage the state's budget, yet are astute at raising millions of dollars to get elected. They respond well to those PAC contributors, whether they be LABOR or CORPORATION based but cannot respond to the wishes of IL taxpayers to overhaul the tax system.
We see no plan for property tax overhaul, yet there are hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on TV ads SELLING a proposed income tax increase to fund education programs. Illinois get most of its revenue from income tax currently and most of that is from business. The SELLING is really a switch-n-bait tactic. Simply put, the SELL implys no raise in personnel income tax, just a raise in corporate income tax. If the average Illinois taxpayer believes this - we really need to improve state education, the largest state expenditure currently. Yesterday, the NG published a letter-to-the-editor supporting this income tax increase base solely on educational NEEDS. I have to agree with the need but we have to justify the means not just expond on the need.
Does anyone remember why Illinois started a Lottery?
"Does anyone remember why Illinois started a Lottery?"
To bail out the CTA.
No, I'm not kidding. You can look it up.
IP is correct on paper but the reality is and the way it was sold back in 1972 by our state representatives was to bail out education underfunding. The profits goes to fund the state's education program generally not by how many lotto tickets are sold in each district. Here is the lotto link on funding: http://www.illinoislottery.com/subsections/news01.htm
"IP is correct on paper but the reality is and the way it was sold back in 1972 by our state representatives was to bail out education underfunding."
It was sold by some legislators as a way to bail out education funding, as a way of covering their own rear ends.
But the real purpose, known full well by everybody involved, was to bail out the CTA. I know an old member of the GA who used to carry around a copy of the Chicago Sun-Times headline from that spring. It read: "Lottery Enacted to Fund CTA"
It wasn't a secret at the time, and it shouldn't be a secret now. The state enacted a tax (albeit a voluntary one - the lottery) on
stupid peoplepeople who don't understand probability and statistics in order to bail out a regional transportation agency. It would have been ironic had the state passed a tax on
stupid peoplepeople who can't do mathemathics to fund education to make people smarter. But that's not what happened.Yes the point is that this Frerichs is a bought and paid for chump of the Blagovich machine! You of anyone should know this, being some kind of an offiicer in the local Democratic party. The Dems poured a lot of money into this campaign, and dont tell me the Governor had nothing to do with it. Sure Blago did not write the checks but we all know where the money came from! As for Blagovich, Yes He is under investigation by the Feds. and will ultimately end up in the Federal slam, unlike His predecessor George Ryan, Blago is young and healthy so that should not prevent him from going bye bye, the sooner the better!!! As for Frerichs and Ms. Jacobson, They both will speak when spoken to by the "Kingfish" Emil Jones. Don't hold your breath waiting for these two to introduce any kind of real legislation, like property tax relief, or any thing else that means anything. Just the usual happy birthday and celebrating some new firehouse resolutions that clog up the process in Springfield.
"You of anyone should know this, being some kind of an offiicer in the local Democratic party."
I am a precinct committeeperson. Nothing more, nothing less. You can look it up. For several years I was the county party's Vice Chair for Labor. Almost exactly a year ago, at the party's biennial convention, I was asked to serve in that position for another two year term, and I declined. Everything I know about individual campaign finances is what I can glean from the public reports. No more, no less. You apparently have some sort of special powers. I have to rely on facts.
"The Dems poured a lot of money into this campaign, and dont tell me the Governor had nothing to do with it. Sure Blago did not write the checks but we all know where the money came from!"
Yes, we do. Approximately three quarters of it came from Emil Jones. None of it came from the governor. You can look it up. We've had this conversation before. You have yet to offer any evidence to the contrary.
"As for Frerichs and Ms. Jacobson, They both will speak when spoken to by the "Kingfish" Emil Jones."
I'm sure this will come as a great surprise to both Naomi and Speaker Madigan.
Oil Man: Thank you. While I'm not sure I fully follow your analysis on relative tax sources, at least you are discussing actual issues.
That was me, by the way (Anonymous @ 8:26 pm). Not sure what happened to my log in...
