I want to know something. Why was I kicked out of Legends yesterday because I said "Bruno sucks"? I thought this was a free country. What happened to freedom of speech, did that get thrown out with our freedom to smoke in bars?

This used to be a free country, but your freedom of speech died about the same time common sense was put to death!!!!!
Huh?
Sorry, but I don't understand your post.
Would you please provide more information?
Just as it says I was told to leave Legends, a bar on campus, because I said "Bruno sucks", I don't think I have to draw it on paper. In fact the manager hung up on me and my lawyer today. I'm not an etch-a-stetch---draw your own picture.
Why would you do that? There is a Bruno sign on the front door to the establishment. You do realize you don't enjoy the same right to free speech inside a business that you otherwise would on the street outside don't you? Excuse me, but your motives are very suspect.
This post still makes no sense to me.
Why would you walk into Legends and say "Bruno sucks?"
What's the connection between Legends and Bruno?
What makes you think that Legends asking you to leave has anything to do with the First Amendment?
I've seen Bruno in Legends a bunch, I assume once was a campaign lunch meeting (saw a bunch of politicos there)... it seems certainly like its friendly territory for him. If nothing else the food is good, and I'm fully stocked at home from Legends glasses from Logo Class day. :)

Sounds like we're getting a very limited description of the event at best. But even with this description freedom of speech is protected against government infringement. If you're in my house, my business, etc I can tell you to shut the hell up or get out. If you're standing on the sidewalk I can tell you to shut the hell up, but I can't make you leave.
If your lawyer thinks you have a leg to stand on here, you need to find a better lawyer fast.

yes I just didn't walk in and say that--it was during a conversation I was having. Freedom of speech doesn't mean anything to you? It is funny that at Murphys, that is owned by the same corp. they said it was bs and for me to come back there. I happened to run for council in Atlanta, and if everyone got tossed out of a place for saying something negative about me or my staff there wouldn't be that many people left in the stores. If you are that thinned skinned maybe you should stay out of politics and stay out of other people lives.
Glock, you really don't know much do you? But I feel sorry for those with limited intelligence.
One would surmise that your personal attack on me as opposed to any ability to contradict what the Constitution says on freedom of speech and how it relates to your situation through any Amendment (such as XIV) or legislation is proof positive that it isn't my intelligence we should be worrying about.
But I appreciate your concern. Meanwhile, freedom of speech remains protected against government infringement and not protected in the situation you described. Sorry.

This is the strangest thread ever.
Can anyone (maybe the original posters) please answer my questions, perhaps without the personal attacks?
Thanks.
lithoniaperson, we are attempting to understand you, but you make it difficult because you are speaking in the passive voice. WHO were you talking to? WHAT were the circumstances? Were you literally kicked, or asked to leave? WHO asked you to leave? Were you permanently barred? All we want is a clear description of your account of the incident.
We could understand your situation better if you could answer those questions, and try not to be so combative. You came here for our opinions. If we weren't trying to help you, we wouldn't respond.
I cannot imagine what the circumstance would be that a patron would say "Bruno sucks" either to the restaurant manager or so loudly that it came to the restaurant manager's attention.
They have Bruno signs all over the place in Legends. Its fairly clear they are supporting him. I would be curious about to whom Lithoniaperson made his political announcement.
It might have gotten him thrown out of McDonalds or Biaggi's just as fast.
There is a Bruno for City Council sign in the window of the front door at Legends. I think whoever this person is is just trying to play the Martell Miller/UCIMC crowds game of shouting as loud as possible hoping somebody will listen. Its your site, Gordy, but I would delete this thread.
Scenarios I'm imagining:
-A private conversation about politics in which the phrase comes out a little louder than intended (maybe one of those awkward moments when the room goes silent at exactly the wrong time), or where a server just happened to overhear it and was offended. In which case, maybe the folks at Legends overreacted.
-A private conversation that was growing into an increasingly heated argument, and maybe it wasn't so much what was said as the judgement on the part of the servers that the argument had gone long enough and was beginning to be a nuisance and possible threat to the other customers present.
-Mr. Bruno (and/or some of his known supporters) being in the room and saying it loudly with the sole intent of making sure he (or they) would hear it--which again might be deemed a nuisance and possible threat to others.
-Saying it loudly and unprovoked, to no one in particular. Without Bramfield at the ready with a cell phone and a coffee cup, this would certainly be viewed as a nuisance and possible threat to other customers.
This is indeed a curious thread...
My guess is that lithoniaperson is a wenalway.
My guess is that Bruno needs to shave that thing off his face.
