Today I attended a Senate forum of Intergenerational Leadership headed up by the Office of the Senate President. Afterwards I attended a reception in Senator Emil Jones’ office and was astonished by the fact he was smoking at his desk. If you remember back on March 30 the senate passed a statewide smoking ban 34-23. Now wouldn’t you think that if Senator Jones supported this measure so much, he would have outlawed smoking within his own office? I just think this is appalling that he wants to ban Joe Citizen from smoking anywhere but yet he can smoke in his public office inside a public building.

Perhaps I'm reading the voting record incorrectly... but it appears that Senator Jones was listed as non-voting on the final vote for the bill. Perhaps he doesn't support this measure so much afterall.

Well my issue is that if he is against it, why didn't he try to avoid the vote on some cleaver manuvering like he did the electric rate freeze vote on Friday? That issue had strong support and could have passed. Maybe I am just fishing blind here but I just don't think it is right he can smoke in his office, I found it to be in poor taste.
