Test results are in from the July 10th Supervisor of Assessments exam which was conducted by the State of Illinois at the request of County Board Chair Pius Weibel. There were no additional people from Champaign County to pass the test. So the list of eligible people in the County in our records are:
Gary Twist
Dan Stebbins
Laura Sandefur
Paula Bates
Brian Christie
I also understand that Stan Jenkins has passed the test in another county at some point.
The Board can appoint anyone in the state of Iliinois who has passed this test so the list of eligible candidates is not limited to those who had their test results sent to Champaign County.
Well the Dems on the county board have a very poor record on appointing women to positions of authority in this county, so Paula Bates and Laura Sandefur don't have a chance. They appointed a guy to take Trish Avery's vacated board seat. Then Tony Fabri led the effort to oust Barb Wysocki from the board chair. Then the Dems appointed Fabri auditor when there were several more qualified women (if they had been approached), but Fabri, of course, needed a job. What's up with this?
Please note that the Democratic Pary County Board membership includes all of the women currently on the Board; seven of fifteen--almost half of our represenation. The Republicans have none. This isn't a very fertile field for gender discrimination on the part of the Democats. Ralph Langeneim
