Kos Envy

IlliniPundit.com now has 191 registered users.

Daily Kos has more than 130,000 registered users.

I don't think anyone will be naming a convention after this blog any time soon.

(Again - 130,000 registered users.  Wow.  Daily Kos, though I don't agree with their politics, is just an awesome online political world unto itself, and I certainly admire the community they've built.)

Yeah, it really is awe inspiring.  I don't write many comments there, but do check in once/day to see the recommended diaries and to read a few regulars (like mcjoan).  Regardless of your politics (I tend to agree wtih them), the site is populated with many talented writers and political analysts.  I also believe the software is all custom-written (?) as nothing out there can support their needs.

I also recall before the '04 election that they were indeed popular, and I visited regularly.  But it wasn't the behemoth it is now.  So don't forget that every blog starts with 0 registered users!  You could rival them yet :)

Kos is ok.  They did manage to hold the best (no-frills, but good questions and a smart audience) debate:

They also alerted me the other day to a possible new entrant into the Republican presidential, who I fear may take the country by storm:

On the other hand, Dkos is sort of the victim of its own success. It's hard to have much of a conversation in threads that gather hundreds of comments in a couple of hours and then die right away as new stories hit the front page.  So don't feel too bad, IP.
