Random thought: should the Norman Hsu-Hillary Clinton fundraising scandal serve as a clear warning that McCain-Feingold hasn't done anything to limit corruption?
Why would anyone want to emulate a "reform" that clearly isn't working?

I must have missed something. What exactly is Hsu or the Clinton campaign alleged to have done that is wrong? Apparently Hsu has a past that includes a criminal conviction. So does Scooter Libby. According to the articles I've read, Hsu never asked any public official for anything. His motivation appears to have been to burnish his credence by having his picture taken with big shots. Do you want an Illini Pundit Election Reform bill that prohibits unsavory characters from soliciting people they know for campaign contributions?

Nobody knows where the money came from, leading people to speculate the worst possible scenarios, causing an investigation, and prompting Hillary to return the contributions.
If he's done nothing wrong, why is Hillary giving back $850,000?

No - I want legal, unlimited Federal contributions from American citizens with 100 percent near-instant online disclosure, and I want no limits on the political speech rights of American citizens.
My point here is that McCain-Feingold was touted as a solution to political corruption. It's been in effect for three Federal elections, and corruption, particularly campaign-finance corruption, is a rampant as ever. So let's remove the restricitons, require improved disclosure, and let Americans judge for themselves without having to deal with the maze of federal regulations about what sorts of political activity are legal and illegal.
My point here is also that some in Illinois want our state regulations to mimic McCain-Feingold, even though everyon knows McCain-Feingold isn't working.
McCain-Feingold's impact on political campaign-finance corruption just as Illinois FOID program impacted gun violance-----NADA.
