This is from yesterday's News-Gazette:
A sheriff's deputy used a Taser on a man accused of beating and robbing an acquaintance in Urbana on Sunday.
Jack A. Beasley, 36, who listed an address in the 1000 block of Eastern Avenue, Urbana, was arraigned and pleaded innocent Monday to a felony charge of robbery relating to an incident in Urbana early Sunday. During Beasley's arrest, an unexplained gunshot was fired by police, authorities said.
Discuss, but please be respectful to the officers, defendants and victims, please.

Discuss: I'd rather be tasered than end up with a gunshot wound.
In consideration of the battery then robbery complaint against the defendant, then a 'high speed chase" with property damage, then defendent resistence to officers' direction prior to the arrest. Without further details, it appears a gun discharge and use of a tasered was close to minimal equipment use to avoid injury in the arrest process.
Jack Beasley has proven time and again that he is not fit to live anywhere other than in a penitentiary, His criminal career is almost as old as he is, Now maybe they can keep him locked up for good so he cannot hurt anyone else! He should be thankful the officer wasn't a better shot.
Wow, zero to jackass in only three comments. A new IP record! :)

Don't sell us short - we've gone much faster than that.
;-)
I dunno, the guy has numerous misdemeanor and felony arrests. He only has two recorded felony convictions because many of the other charges were dismissed as parts of plea bargains. He has two whole pages of traffic offenses. He has 3 orders of protection against him.
It does certainly appear that he is having some difficulty "fitting in" with the rest of us.
Arvid-Were do you live we will have Beasley move in with you after he gets out and see if your attitude changes.
