Smoky Mountain National Park

Charleston Harbor on Veterans Day

Capitol Square in Richmond, Virginia

Walked in a lot of big footsteps... Jefferson, Marshall, General Lee, Grant, Eisenhower, Churchill, Lincoln, John Brown, W.E.B DuBois, FDR and countless others...
One of hell of a week.

surprised you didn't make it to Gettysburg as well :-)
A number of years ago, my dad visited Antietam. He came away talking about how he could walk the battlefield and see where the different units were, walk down the suken road and see where the cornfields were...i've always wanted to visit Antietam battlefield.
thanks for sharing the pictures

HG... it was really really really hard to make that left back home instead of right to do more road tripping. But I'd like to eat something before the month is over... and it was either food or more road tripping. :-)
Food is overrated... right? Right?!?

HG
Glock,,,,,thankyou for sharing! Very, very thoughtful:) History Guy, maybe you can confirm this,,I believe the original table that was used for the surrender signing, was given to Ge. G. A. Custer as a gift for his efforts in comobat leading up to the surrender, Thanks again Glock.
The Custer story sounds familiar... I think the park ranger mentioned that when we were walking through the restored McLean house... but my memory can be pretty shotty at times.
