Gregg.....we had something like this happen at Centennial in the late 70's. Do you remember that great team they had. Anyway the night before the Normal Community game,,,,,a game that would have won the Conference Championship,,,and a playoff spot,,,,,a bunch of the teams starters went out and got drunker than hell,,,,,,,on a Thursday!!,,a short ending,these guys could not get off dime againest Normal,,,it would of been a tough game anyway,,but man I was on the sidelines and these kids were sucking wind half way thru the first quarter,,,,,they lost and no playoffs,,,,I realize it is a long life and all that,,,but sometimes, I did it too,we forget how few and far between chances like this happen in a lifetime,,,Tuscola , if they lose,,,,,they kids will wear the donkeys tail forever,,,,if they win,,,,theses kids will not have been any part of it,,,,,pretty sad!
Drinking is not a big sin, but rules are rules and its a class act by the school to suspend the players, even if it costs the State Championship. Lessons to be learned by all.
Kudos to the Coach. I hope he has the cojones to follow through on his stated intention to suspend.
And I hope the players have the grace and the class and the maturity to take their punishment like men, sit on the sidelines and root for their replacements.
