Democrats on Impeachment

I wonder how long it will be before Rep. Naomi Jakobsson starts talking about impeachment?  Speaker Madigan has already issued the talking points, so that should be all the direction she needs.

Notice as well that Senate President Emil Jones is opposed to impeachment:

I think it’s wrong for the Democratic Speaker and Democratic Party Chairman to promote the impeachment of a Democratic Governor. Impeachment is unwarranted in my opinion, and should not be used as a political tool. It is a serious state action that should not be used to divert attention from the issues at hand which are the operating budget and passing a capital bill.

And it's worth remembering that Jones' statement and position nullify the positions and opinions of every other Senate Democrat, including "tough and independent" Sen. Mike Frerichs.

"I think it’s wrong for the Democratic Speaker and Democratic Party Chairman to promote the impeachment of a Democratic Governor"-Jones thinks there is no reason ever to impeach a sitting Democratic governor?

I seriously think Madigan has gone mad, and the rest of his democrat flock hasn't yet realized it. I mean - those "counts" of impeachment are the stuff of hilarity - Impeach the Governor because he called you a "conservative republican"? Seriously wacky!

Impeachment talk is cheap, effective political tool to distance a potential candidate or party from an unpopular office holder.  In this case Madigan is doing it for his daughter.  The GOP used this tool with Clinton, the Dems have used it for "W".

Impeachment is serious, but it's there as a tool for a reason.  If this Governor hasn't given us grounds for impeachment, then no one has, but of course, as long as the Democrats in the Senate, including Senator Frerichs, support Jones as president, nothing will get done, and the State will continue to sink into a financial mess.  How long before the senate can seriously consider replacing Jones as president?

The other way of asking this question is:  how long will voters who don't agree with Emil Jones' absolute control of the Senate keep electing Senators like Mike Frerichs who enable Jones?

Certainly, it's legitimate to ask Jaccobbsson and Freirichs if they will commit to not voting for Madigan and Jones for any leadership positions, and if they won't, why we shouldn't blame them for whatever Madigan and Jones do.

This story has made the front page (as of today) of Redstate...

Play fair, Gordy. It's not like there was an actual candidate opposing him. ;P

All of the Democrats + Tim Johnson + Shimkus + Ron Paul and some  few others Republicans voted to send Kucinch's impeachment rez to the Judicial committee.  The rest of the republicans including Ray LaHood voted  with the losing faction all Republicans against sending it to committee.

Pelosi is opposed to the impeachment of Bush.  I would suppose it's because she is personally complicit in the foul deeds done by Cheney et al, but she threatens to kill the impeachment.  I think it would be a good thing to wake up the leaders of the country that there can be some accountability.  The investigation should be interesting too.
