The CCNH Advisory Board has approved a consulting contract with Management Performance Associates, sending it to the full County Board for approval this week.
The county nursing home's directors worked out their differences Monday to unanimously recommend a management contract for the facility.
Action on the $15,000-a-month contract would still have to be taken by the full Champaign County Board, which meets at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Brookens Center, 1776 E. Washington St., U.
Discuss.

Hum-m-m-m-m "I just love it when a plan comes together" no matter what the plan (Pattsi's addition). :-)
In any case, this will be discussed as mentioned this Thursday. For those who can not attend there is always cable TV so you can watch at home and a cell phone number of someone you know who is attending so you can send in comments. Public participation is at the beginning of the meeting, in case you have a thought or two to share. And if you can not do so in person, why not submit such in writing to be read into the record. Maybe there is an email address that can be used for submitting comments. Does any know and if so, what is the address?
Pattsi Petrie
Unfortunately, there really isn't a remote commenting method for the County Board - you, or your proxy, has to be there to speak to the board. Of course emailing comments to members is an option. The members email addresses are available at www.champaigncountyclerk.com. Occasionally a member will read some of the email or letters they receive during the communications portion of the meeting. Jennifer Putman can usually be counted on to comment on communications she receives.
And the meetings are now on Comcast channel 2.
The County Board webpage lists the email address of countyboard@co.champaign.il.us. I believe you can utilize that email address to communicate with the County Board. The Nursing Home Board of Directors webpage also lists the address of ccnhboard@co.champaign.il.us for communication with that body.

Brad Jones recently sent a flyer to my home asking my opinion on CCNH, schools tax, and county board size. I replied via email and have been pleased with the email conversation that we have been having. He is not even my county board member, but did take the time to ask for my input. Wow!
I am however disappointed in Mark's county board website posted above. The maps of the county board districts are fuzzy, out of date, and difficult to view. For a county with a GIS system, plenty of CAD drawings, and access to google maps, better maps should be easy and clear.
Better maps have certainly not been easy, but they are on the way.
For examples of where we're going with maps, please check out the new County Board District 3 maps.

I can not agree more concerning the lack of clarity about the various county maps in this day and age of technology. I have been hearing the response that better maps are on the way since I first contacted the county clerk's office when I began preparing to run for the county board. The maps provided do not in any way make clear the boundaries, i.e. if one side or both sides of the street are in the district. And when I try to read the maps relating CB districts to those of other electoral maps one can not easily make the interconnections because there is no key information included on each map. I have written these comments to the county clerk on several occasions along with calls to the office. I get the same ole story every time "they are in a meeting right now discussing this." Then I am told "well just stop by the office and we will give you the walk lists." These are helpful, but not pictorial and do not serve the citizens of the county. It is very easy to construct GIS maps that are clear, definitive, easy to read for the unitiated, and any of our urban planning students at the university can do this in a beginning GIS course. Why not hire several urban planning or geography or computer science students and get this job done properly. This IS an election year. (This is a tough love message.) :-)

Pattsi, please save your tough love for those you love.
We have a staff person right now at the mapping computer as we have had for most days in the past month. I suppose some people might consider this easy, but it's not.
I'd suggest that people look at the maps of County Board District 3 and offer comments. Then please direct me to another County in the State of Illinois that's providing maps of that detail on their website.
I appreciate everyone's patience with this project. We have been working diligently for the last couple years on various aspects of mapping. And despite what the average politician might think, it's far more important to have the boundaries of the various taxing districts verified then it is to have County Board maps redrawn to the liking of candidates.
Pattsi seems to have a knack for offering lots of critcism about issues when she doesn't have all of the facts.
I have looked at the new maps up on the county clerk web site. The boundaries are still not defined. They are indicated, but one can not tell from the map where exactly the boundary divides. In addition, there simply is no key and the notation that is on the map has a type size that I have to magnify to 150% to barely read the text. I am using a laptop not a huge desk flat screen monitor.

Leanne, absolutely not having all of the facts does lead to misplaced criticism. So, by all means, share with all of us the facts so we can appreciate better the situation.
Pattsi Petrie
The large paper maps produced by the clerk are quite adequate. The maps in The League of Women's Vers, A 'Directory of Who's Who in Government' also are good. They all need constant revision, but that is inescapable. Ralph Langenhim
Mark - These new maps for Dist 3 are much better. One thing that you may want to consider is to put a google map embedded in your website with an overlay of the county board districts. This is free and is quite easy to use. Given that your new maps appear to be GIS based, the translation to a free google maps should be straight forward. Pattsi, I'm surprised by your negativity on this topic. Usually you are so positive
