WDWS is reporting that the Champaign County Nursing Home has passed an Illinois Department of Public Health inspection, and is now able to remain open past mid-July.
It's a good thing, otherwise that three-year $540,000 consulting contract might look pretty silly. Same with that $600,000 "loan" to the Nursing Home.

During a conversation during the closed session break at the CB meeting on 19 June, the DON assured an individual that this violation would be cleared. Based on this information, it appears that last Thursday the CCNH administration were rather certain that they would be cleared. Once cleared then the appeal can proceed about the $200/day being held back. When this is cleared, and it probably will, this creates a pool of funds, approximately $300,000. As I previously mentioned state departments of public health rarely close down a nursing home. So statistically, one could figure that all of this would be cleared.

Given the misleading information that has come out of this whole fiasco and the general incompetence surrounding so many aspects of the CCNH, I had little to no faith that it would be allowed to remain open. I am quite happy to have been wrong about that, as it's the first time I can remember that something related to the Nursing Home has turned out better than I expected. Hopefully this will start a trend.
