Gov. Blagojevich makes Urbana seem marginally competent

Discuss ...

Urbana, as always, is decades behind the times

Whether it's economic development or human decency Bozo Urbana is decades behind the times.

The latest gaffe, reported in the 15Apr News-Gazette report is that Urbana is considering an update to Urbana Public Television policy that the city "does not condone or endorse speech that promotes fear, hatred, prejudice or discrimination toward any group based on religion, ethnicity, race, gender or sexual orientation."

Bozo Urbana should have figured this out decades ago.

Banning non-locally produced programs on Urbana Public TV in no way inhibits the free flow of ideas.   Anyone wanting to watch the bizarre, historically inaccurate shows provided to Urbana Public Television by Mr. Brumleve can find such on the Internet.      Anyone holding such beliefs can produce their own show for airing on UPT.

Champaign, whose slogan is "Proud of Our Diversity,"  would never tolerate junk like Timothy Brumleve's on a city sponsored forum.

What really happened!! Great video on the Middle East !!

Urbana's 175th Anniversary Celebration ...

... was poorly attended--after the performers, friends and family of the performers and public officials, not more than 150.

Urbana has not had much to celebrate compared to Champaign and Savoy the past 25 years, and the populace knows this.

Mayor Prussing, Snow Removal, and Volunteerism

Mayor Prussing was interviewed on WiILL-AM today.  She felt enough snow removal equipment was owned in the city so that sidewalks could be cleared by volunteers.

One wonders if she  expects volunteers to bring a movie theater, a major bookstore, and other retail stores to Urbana.

The mayor's appeal for volunteers seems quaintly Reaganesque.

Conservation and Climate Change

Many species which conservationists have worked long to preserve may soon lose their habitat as climates cause habitats to evolve.

What our Presidential Candidates Should Really Be Concerned About

This article, from the on-line New York Times, best describes the challenges facing the next president.

I always remain surprised that candidtaes are not asked who they would consider ideal members of their cabinet if they were elected.    This would be a significant insight into a candidate's thinking and policies.
